DrawHousePlan

Draw a house plan you can build from, in your browser

Type a wall's length in feet and inches and it is drawn exactly that long. Add doors, windows and stairs, see the building in 3D, and print a dimensioned drawing set at true scale. No account, no installation.

LIVING KITCHEN BEDROOM BATH 32'-0" 26'-0"

How it works

  1. Draw the walls. Click a start point, type 19' 6", hit a direction arrow. The wall is drawn exactly that long — then keep typing to run the next one.
  2. Add the rest. Doors, windows, stairs with landings, columns, beams, slabs, balconies, roofs — storey by storey.
  3. Check it in 3D. Walls build up with the openings cut through them. Slide the storeys apart and lift the roof off to see inside.
  4. Print the set. A dimensioned sheet per storey, a sheet per room, and a schedules sheet, at 1/4" = 1'-0" or any architectural scale.

What you get

The same drawing, three ways — you switch between them with one click.

The plan, to scale

Walls, doors and windows in proper plan notation, every length exact.

The building in 3D

The same walls stood up, with the openings cut through them.

A printable set

Dimensioned sheets with a title block and door and window schedules.

What you can draw

Walls, to the eighth of an inch

Type a length and a direction, or click corners with snapping to ends, midpoints and wall lines. Corners mitre properly instead of overlapping.

Doors and windows

Drag along a wall to set the width, or type it. Choose the hinge jamb and the swing angle, or place a plain cased opening. Click a gap between walls and it becomes a doorway.

Stairs that turn

Straight flights, quarter turns and switchbacks, with landings, per-flight step counts and the level of each landing called out.

Structure

Columns and beams for where a wall is left out, floor slabs that follow the real outline of the walls, and an edge offset that turns a slab into a balcony.

Storeys and roofs

Stack storeys with the floor below ghosted underneath so the walls line up. Flat, gable or hipped roofs with pitch and overhang.

A real drawing set

Tiered dimensions — openings, setting out, overall — plus door, window and room schedules with marks and quantities, and sheet numbering.

Questions

Can I draw a floor plan online for free?

Yes, all of it. No account, no installation, no payment — draw the plan, see it in 3D, and download the drawing set as a PDF, the CAD drawing as a DXF, or the project file to reopen later.

How do I draw a wall to an exact length?

Click a start point, type the length, and press a direction arrow — the wall is drawn exactly that long. Type 19' 6", 19'6, 19-6 or 234"; they all mean the same thing. Keep typing to run wall after wall without stopping.

Is this an alternative to AutoCAD?

For residential floor plans, yes: you can draw to exact dimensions, place doors, windows and stairs, and print a dimensioned set at a real architectural scale. It is not a general-purpose CAD package — no mechanical drafting, no 3D solids modelling, no DWG editing.

Can I print a floor plan to scale?

Yes. Pick A4, A3 or Letter and a scale such as 1/4" = 1'-0", then print with margins set to None and scale set to 100%. You get a plan sheet per storey, a sheet per room, and a schedules sheet.

Does it work in feet and inches?

Throughout. Type 19' 6", 19'6, 19-6 or 234" — they all mean the same thing, and dimensions read back to the nearest eighth of an inch.

Can I draw more than one storey?

Yes. Add storeys above or below, duplicate one to start the next, and the floor below is drawn faint behind your work so you can line the walls up. In 3D you can slide the storeys apart and lift the roof off to see inside.
